The Transition Department at the Luzerne Intermediate Unit holds Coordinating Council meetings throughout the year. These meetings are designed to bring together members of groups, organizations, and school districts with the intention of exchanging ideas, information, and best practices regarding secondary transitional programs that benefit our youth. All meetings will be held at the Luzerne Intermediate Unit.
January 21, 2016-Joint Meeting with TCC and LCSSC
9:00 am - 12:30 pm
We will be holding a joint meeting of the Transition Coordinating Council and the Luzerne County Safe Schools Committee to meet with a representative of the Anthracite Region Center for Independent Living (ARCIL) and learn what they have to offer. We will also discuss how we can come together to help students of all abilities prepare, prevent, and respond to emergencies.
March 22, 2016- Life Care Planning, Legal Issues and Concerns for Individuals with Disabilities
This event will include a presentation from two local attorneys as well as a question and answer session about wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and guardianship for individuals with special needs starting at age 14. Audience: Parents, Students, Consultants, etc.

The Luzerne Intermediate Unit will host a Transition Reception for students and their parents at the IU. This night is filled with useful information on agencies, transition programs, and colleges.
